Wedding: Sharon & Steve - Turner, Maine

Sharon and Steve are such an amazing couple and their bond together is deeply rooted in their strong commitment to their faith and God. Their wedding was very simple but had the most important element of any wedding…being surrounded by their friends and family members to support them in their new journey together. Their ceremony and reception was held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Turner, Maine.

Fun shoes!

Sharon just looks stunning in front of this field by her friend Rachael’s house where she got ready.

I don’t often get a chance to photograph the guys getting ready, but always love it when I do get the opportunity. It always seems even more chaotic than the girls. There was a slight problem when they discovered that one of the groomsmens vests was missing. What wedding doesn’t have those little snafus.

The junior groomsmen went to go light the candelabras before the ceremony and the candles kept going out. I was beginning to think someone used trick candles! After three attempts they finally gave up and the entire congregation burst into laughter.

They both are just glowing!

After the ceremony there was a short reception in the church gym and everyone enjoyed the food and visiting with the bride and groom. I always love bubble exits!

Afterwards we headed to Sharon’s parents home where I got some private time with them and to get some fun shots (I LOVE this!). Their parents arrived shortly afterwards to say their goodbyes before heading off on their honeymoon.

Congratulations Sharon and Steve!

Happy 4th of July!

This image was taken at Tasha and Ari’s wedding last year at Church Landing in Meredith, New Hampshire. There were terrible storms in New Hampshire on July 4th, so the fireworks got delayed until July 5th.  Tasha and Ari got a really nice surprise at the end of their reception!

Happy 4th of July everyone! Have a safe and fun holiday!

Wedding: Jennifer & Michael - Old Orchard Beach, Maine

Sunday started off foggy and dreary and the forecast was for rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon. It actually started to pour as I was driving into Portland…bummer! Now, Jennifer and Michael’s ceremony was supposed to be outside, but their backup plan was in the reception area. And I’m a firm believer that if you’re prepared for rain, then it really won’t rain! And wouldn’t you know it, by the time Jennifer walked down the aisle at the Dunegrass Country Club it was bright, sunny and hot. Of course it rained again that evening, but by then it didn’t matter. It was perfect timing! Jennifer got ready at her parents home in Gorham and she was one of the most relaxed brides I’ve worked with, nothing seem to phase her.

Jennifer’s mom loves snowmen, they were all over the house. I’m always looking for creative shots for the rings and thought this was fun!

It’s always fun to see everyone taking pictures with their point and shoot cameras.

Jennifer looks so happy!

The Dunegrass Country Club is a gorgeous setting for a wedding and they do an amazing job.

I think of Grace Kelly when I see this picture.

The toasts were filled with lots of emotion.

Congratulations Jennifer and Michael! I can’t wait to design your album!

Wedding: Agnes & Scott - Boston, Massachusetts

I had never met Agnes and Scott before their wedding day, they hired me site unseen and we did all their planning through email, so I was really excited to finally meet them! This was also my first Asian wedding so I was even more excited! The day before their wedding day I started to get a little anxious because of the logistics of their wedding day. Anyone who lives in Boston or any big city for that matter, knows that driving around a city, worrying about traffic and parking can be nerve wracking, and about a thousand times worse if you’re under the added pressure of photographing a wedding! The more I got to thinking about it, the more anxious I got, so a last minute phone call to Agnes to find out if I could ride with them from the salon to the church and back again. Since she was getting ready in China Town and their reception was only a few blocks away all I had to do was park my car in a garage nearby. When she said “no problem” it was a big relief for me. Agnes got ready down in China Town at the Coco Head Salon

They had a traditional American ceremony at Marsh Chapel on the Boston University campus, which was beautiful!

As the bride and groom exit the chapel, they are supposed to exit under a red umbrella for luck. I loved this and wanted to get some fun shots with the red umbrella.

Agnes’ parents rented a bus to take everyone from the chapel to the China Pearl in China Town. Unfortunately the bus couldn’t fit down the narrow street that the China Pearl is on so he had to drop us off a few blocks away. It was a blast getting pictures of Agnes running down the streets of Boston in her wedding dress.

The reception was primarily filled with Asian traditions. They had a traditional tea ceremony which is meant to honor their elders.

Instead of dancing there are lots of bride and groom games, which was so much fun to photograph. In this game Scott is blind folded and has to get the cherries into Agnes’ mouth. You’ll notice that someone is actually holding the cherries, well she doesn’t make it easy, she was constantly moving the cherries around!

There are lots of wardrobe changes, although Agnes only had two for her reception. Isn’t it gorgeous!

In this game, Scott had to mix up the cups and choose one. Under the cup is a piece of paper with a body part and he has to kiss Agnes on that body part.

Agnes blind folded had to feel each person’s face and try to pick out which one was Scott. It’s supposed to tell how well she knows her man.

Congratulations Agnes & Scott! I had such a wonderful time photographing your wedding and getting to know you!
